MDP Presidential Candidate President Ibrahim Mohamed has indicated that his open to forming a coalition with another political party in order to win the run-off of the Presidential Election.

While the first round of voting in the Presidential Election was held yesterday, PNC Candidate Dr. Mohamed Muizzu claimed victory with 46.02 percent of the ballots cast.

President Solih managed to secure 39.09 percent of the total vote which means that he would be competing against Muizzu in the run-off as both are the two candidates with the highest votes.

Speaking to reporters stationed outside his campaign office last night, President Solih said that there were several areas his campaign team had not thought of and that they were now working on those areas.

When asked if he would form a coalition with Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed's Democrats, the President answered by saying that MDP must join forces together with another party for the next round.

He said that PPM must now be working on joining with another party and MDP is now working on it too.

The President added his camp would begin work on the second round today.

Both camps are likely to court Democrats Candidate MP Ilyas Labeeb who secured 15,453 votes in yesterday's first round of election.
