MDP Presidential Candidate President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih says today's Presidential Election is the most peaceful election ever held in the Maldives.
He said this in comments to the media after he cast his vote for the election today.
President Solih said that today's election is independent and peaceful and that one of the reasons for this is that the voting for the polls began right on time.
He said that this was never witnessed in previous elections and that there has been no major unrest reported from any ballot locations yet.
Solih added that the campaigning for the election was also wrapped up peacefully.
The President further said that the electoral process was proceeding under democratic standards never seen before and urged all citizens to exercise their right to vote.
The MDP Candidate said that he was confident that he would win the election and that too would secure a landslide victory.
A reporter asked whether MDP was giving out cash in exchange of vote and President Solih answered by saying that MDP would not be giving away cash.
