Police confirm that a cargo vessel traveling to Baa Atoll has sunk off Dharavandhoo.
They said that the vessel left from Male' earlier today and was en route to Dharavandhoo before it sank off the island. Police said that the report of the incident came around 10:40 a.m. and that the vessel had a crew of 13 when it sank.
Police said that the crew included a Maldivian and 12 foreigners and that they were picked up by a police launch that went to the scene.
They said that members of the crew were all doing fine after the incident.
Police did not give any more information about the vessel and why it had sunk.
But weather conditions are bad across the country with the National Meteorological Services, the Met Office issuing white and yellow alert for different parts of the country this week.
