Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has lauded all eight candidates of next week's Presidential Election as they showcased their policies and visions in the Presidential Debate organized by Sangu TV and PSM.
The only debate ahead of the first round of voting was attended by MDP Candidate President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, PNC Candidate Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Jumhooree Party candidate Qasim Ibrahim, MNP Candidate Colonel Retired Mohamed Nazim, The Democrats Candidate MP Ilyas Labeeb Independent Candidates Umar Naseer, Ahmed Faris Maumoon, and Hassan Zameel.
All eight candidates gave detailed answers to questions posed by the moderator and veteran Journalist Ibrahim 'Aswad' Waheed who at times pressed on for a specific answer from each candidate.
While many on social media agreed that Independent Candidate Faris gave the best answers driven by sound and assertive policies, his father former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom lauded all 8 candidates for what he described as a 'highly informative and stimulating' debate.
Maumoon went on to thank all the candidates for the debate and said that they all did a good job. The ex-president, who sat in the audience alongside former First Lady Nasreena Ibrahim, wished all the candidates good luck for Saturday's polls.
The candidates spoke on a range of topics at last night's debate watched online by over 7,000 viewers. These include their economic policies, foreign policies, housing policies and other issues too.
