Maldives Police Services has refuted claims stating that some of the police officers would lose their right to vote in next Saturday's election because of the Police Security Operation for the election.

Police said today in a message to the media that some politicians are saying that Police officers deployed to the inner islands for the election operation would lose their right to vote. Police said that this information was false.

They said that the locations where each and every Police Officer was sent were pre-determined and that the re-registration process for these officers was also complete within the given timeline.

They assured that no police officer would lose his or her right to vote because of their election deployment.

Police have been deployed to all the inhabited islands of the country.

They have also established emergency police teams on each Atoll in case more police officers are needed on an island on election day.

While Police say they are fully prepared for next week's election, Police Operation 'Operation Blue Wave' is current underway in Male' and the inner islands till 06:00 p.m. today.
