MDP Presidential Candidate President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih says he is confident that he can win the Presidential Election in one round even if the vote was taken today.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Lhaviyani Atoll Olhuvelifushi today, President Solih said that from his visits to the inner islands during his campaign trail, it was evident that the people want to elect him with one round of voting and that if the vote is to be taken on the 9th of next month, the victory would be more overwhelming.
Noting that he represented Olhuvelifushi in the parliament for 15 years, the President said that back then the island was neglected and that he tried to change that.
He said that out of the three times, he completed two terms as an opposition member of the Parliament.
But he said that in each election, the constituents supported him and elected him and he was serving the country without any differentiation.
The President said that the government is trying to bring revolutionary changes to Olhuvelifushi and that these projects would be completed soon.
President Solih said that the fruit of national development is to see a peaceful country and that even if the people are rich and prosperous if they are not content, the country cannot achieve true progress.
The MDP candidate made several pledges to Olhuvelifushi including developing row houses after a successful reclamation project, changing the island's health center into a 24-hour facility, starting ATM services on the island, building an additional mosque, and also develop a picnic beach.
