PNC Presidential Candidate Dr.Mohamed Muizzu has promised to close government office during the last 10 days of the Holy Month of Ramadan if he comes into power.

He made the pledge while speaking at a campaign rally in Baa Atoll Eydhafushi.

Muizzu said that for those working for the government, the last 10 days of Ramadan would be holidays.

Muizzu, who is also the Mayor of Male' City, said that he intends to close down schools for students in grades lower than 8th Grade for the last 10 days of Ramadan.

He said that for students of the upper grades, sessions would continue as they would have to prepare for exams.

Muizzu said that stopping sessions for students below grade 8 would make it easier for the parents during the last 10 days of Ramadan.

While Muizzu has said that he would close down government offices during the last 10 days of Ramadan, MDP Presidential Candidate President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said before that he intends to allow civil employees to work from home during the last 10 days of the holy month.

The last 10 days of Ramadan are most holiest days for Muslims as it is believed that Allah (SWT) revealed the Holy book of Quran on one of these nights.

Following the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) many Muslims spent the nights of the last 10 days of Ramadan in prayer and supplication to Allah (SWT).
