MDP Presidential Candidate Spokesperson Defense Minister Maria Ahmed Didi accuses PNC Presidential Candidate Dr.Mohamed Muizzu of having ties with religious extremists.
She made these serious allegations while speaking at her regular news briefing today.
The Minister said that many belonging to the religious organization Salaf are supporting Muizzu and that many religious hardliners are campaigning for the PNC Candidate online.
She said that MDP was just highlighting Salaf's endorsement of Muizzu and how extremists are campaigning for him.
Maria also said that when former President Abdullah Yameen was ruling between 2013 to 2018, the country saw the extent to which his wife influenced the government. She said that the country should check who Muizzu's wife really was.
She further said that under Yameen's rule most of the politicians were either in prison or in exile fearing for their lives while under the five year rule of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih this fear has gone.
