PNC Presidential Candidate Dr.Mohamed Muizzu says if he is elected as President, his government let the price of fish catch bought directly from fishermen fall lower than MVR 20.

Muizzu, who is also the Mayor of Male' City, said this in remarks to his supporters in Meemu Atoll Dhiggaru.

He said that the fisheries industry was a vital chapter of former President Abdullah Yameen's manifesto and that if Muizzu is elected as President he would give the industry high priority.

Noting that this administration has neglected the fishing industry, Muizzu said his government would take refer to International Markets and would set the lowest price of catch at MVR 20.

State-run fisheries company MIFCO is currently buying 1 kg of catch for MVR 17.

The Opposition coalition backed Muizzu's presidential candidacy after the Elections Commission and then Supreme Court deemed that former President and opposition leader Yameen cannot compete in the election.

While Muizzu has chosen the MP for Faresmaathoda Constituency Hussain Latheef as his running mate, he will unveil his manifesto at a ceremony in Hulhumale Phase II tomorrow night.
