MDP Presidential Candidate President Ibrahim Mohamed cuts short his campaign trip to Alifu Alifu and Alifu Dhaalu Atolls due to illness.
President Solih traveled to 7 islands of Alifu Alifu Atoll yesterday for his campaign activities ahead of the September Presidential Elections.
The President was scheduled to travel to Himandhoo of the same Atoll earlier today but is now set to return to Male' due to his illness.
Speaking to the media today, the spokesperson for President's campaign office Defense Minister Maria Ahmed Didi said that the President was having a cold and that he would back on the campaign trail as soon as his doctors give the clearance.
The President kicked off his re-election campaign in July from Shaviyani Atoll. Since then he has visited 11 Atolls including Meemu, Vaavu, and Haa Alifu Atoll.
President Solih is yet to visit the populous Raa Atoll and his birth Atoll Lhaviyani.
Twenty Two days remain till the country votes for its President and 8 candidates are vying for the post this year. All the major political parties in the country have fielded candidates for the election including MDP, PNC, JP, MNP and the Democrats.
A total of three independent candidates are also competing in the election.
