The Criminal Court holds a hearing of the murder case against IGMH Nurse Haleemath Lamha and Filipino citizen Marvin SY Vargas today after nearly two months since the last hearing.

The duo, who are romantically involved, has been accused of killing Marvin's wife and IGMH nurse Mary Graconad Pineda in October of 2021.

The Court is currently hearing witness testimonies from the Prosecution and today a registered nurse from Lhaviyani Hinvaru Health Center gave a testimony at the court.

The witness said that she used to work as a registered nurse at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital and that the victim Mary also worked at the hospital.

She said that both she and the victim were on the morning shift on the day of Mary's death and that she did not notice any odd behavior from Mary and that she looked happy.

The Witness said that she talked with the victim as per usual and that as per usual Mary went on her break around 12:00 pm. She recounted that Mary did not return after her break and then she received news that Mary had been brought into the hospital after she was reportedly found hanging.

The Witness said that there were no signs of hanging on the victim's body but that her face had turned blue.

The Prosecution has lined up more witnesses against the defendants who face several charges in the trial.

The State charged Marvin with murder after he was arrested shortly after her death. The State has also charged Lamha with accessory to murder along with other charges.
