President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih says a record number of candidates in the Presidential Election has made it easier for him to win the polls in one round.

A total of 8 pairs filed their candidacies for the September Elections and so far the Elections Commission has given the green light to 7 pairs. Political parties including MDP, MNP, PNC, JP, and the Democrats have fielded candidates while three candidates are competing independently.

Speaking at a campaign rally last night, President Solih said a record number of candidates have decided to compete in the upcoming elections and that this had made it easier for MDP to win the election.

MDP unveiled part of its manifesto last night and President Solih noted that MDP compiled its manifesto as a way to give answers to the questions posed by the people.

He added that this manifesto will resolve the concerns of the people in several sectors including Healthcare, Sports, and social services.

MDP launched 12 campaign pledges last night including ambitious plans for the Healthcare sector. This includes appointing a trained social worker for every 1,000 individuals and to build 3 rehabilitation villages for recovering addicts.
