President of Maldives Reform Movement MRM Faris Maumoon has submitted his candidacy application form for the party's primary for the September Presidential Election.

Faris is the only member from MRM who has put forth his name for the primary with the deadline for the application up at 4:00 pm today.

It is highly likely that Faris would chosen as the party's presidential candidate. But MRM is facing the threat of being dissolved by the Elections Commission as the Commission has recently said that MRM is the only political party in the Maldives that is unable to meet the 3,000-member requirement as per the law.

The party today officially rejected ruling MDP's invitation to work together in the September election saying that it did not agree with some of the policies proposed by MDP.

Also, MRM held discussions with JP recently on the issue of fielding a common candidate for the election but are yet to decide whether they had come to a consesus on the matter.
