Maldives Reform Movement MRM officially rejects Maldives Democratic Party MDP's offer to work together for the 1st round of the Presidential Election to be held in September.

In a statement today, MRM said that the party held formal and informal discussions with MDP following President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's invitation to MRM leader and former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.

MRM said that they also corresponded via writing and that MRM made clear its agenda and policies during the discussions.

It said that after the meeting on 1st May of this year, the party presented MDP's proposal to MRM's exco members.

MRM clarified that MDP's proposal was discussed among the exo members but could not get on board with some of the policies proposed by the ruling MDP.

It said that on the 10th meeting of its Executive Committee, it was decided that MRM would not work together with MDP for the 1st round of the Presidential Election.

MRM went on to thank President Solih and the leadership of MDP for extending an invitation to work together during the election.
