The Opposition Coalition says that only bringing back former President Abdullah Yameen into power can ensure that the Maldives is brought back to its people.
The Opposition said this in its statement on the occasion of the 58th anniversary of the Maldives’ independence.
It said that the Maldivians are greeting their glorious Independence Day with feelings of despair and desperation hanging over their heads.
The Opposition questioned whether Maldivians feel free at a time when India is exerting its influence on the country.
It further said that to bring the country back to Maldivians, they need to end the regime of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih who delivered the country to India and sold its waters, and by electing former President Yameen.
The Opposition said that it is Yameen's wish that the country works as a whole to free itself from the chains that bind its freedom at this important juncture.
It added that the Opposition coalition and Yameen prayed that the upcoming Presidential Election would be one that changes the country's current course for the better.
