President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced that the government would commence a mega tourism project in Vaavu Atoll and that it would be one of the biggest ever in the country.
He made the announcement while speaking on Keyodhoo island of the Atoll during his tour of Meemu and Vaavu Atolls as part of his Presidential Candidate.
President Solih said that during his campaign trip for the 2018 election, he made 7 pledges for the people of the island and that so many pledges were made because the previous administration had neglected Keyodhoo.
He further said that during his travels to the islands, each island council always shares a list of things they want for their islands and that this administration has been consistently fulfilling its pledges. He added that the lists have now begun to be shortened.
Shedding light on some developmental improvements on the island, he said that building more classrooms in Keyodhoo school continues and that there were plans to develop a four-storey building for the school.
He further said that developing a football stadium as well as a volley court on the island would be underway soon. The President added that the Health Center on the island would be further improved and that enhanced services would be available soon.
President Solih said that the administration has made big economic plans for the whole of the Atoll.
Without giving much details, the President said that the plans center on tourism and that the Atoll would be connected via airports and that the work for it was already underway.
