Police have confirmed that a one-year-old child has died after drowning in Meemu Atoll Kolhufushi.
They said that they received the report of the incident around 11:38 am earlier this morning. Police said that the child was taken to the Health Center in Kolhufushi but was declared dead on arrival.
Police further confirmed that the child was missing and was later found and rushed to the Health Center.
They added that they were further investigating the incident.
Local reports have said that the victim was related to Kolhufushi Councillor Adam Saeed.
Saeed confirmed to 'The Press' that the child would be buried today after Asr prayers.
