President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih vows to develop a resort near Meemu Atoll Kolhufushi as well as build new housing units on the island.

He made the pledges on a campaign trip to the island in the central atoll today.

President arrived at the island earlier today and was given a warm welcome by the residents of the island.

Speaking at the community gathering, President Solih, the work to build 100 housing units is now underway on the island and that the government would add another 50 housing units in the next term which would further enhance housing on the island.

The President highlighted that the water and sanitation system was now up and running and that the government would list the island down for road development too.

President Solih also said that the previous administration had given three islands near Kolhufushi as one island to developers to build a resort and that no work has been done to develop the property.

He promised that his administration will develop the resort near Kolhufushi as per the wishes of the islanders.

On his trip to the island, President Solih launched several completed infrastructure projects on the island including the shore protection project, water system project, building five classrooms and a multi-purpose hall in the Meemu Atoll School on the island.
