The Parliament approves the report that suggests that the ruling MDP must be allocated 62 percent of the Parliamentary Committee Composition.

The report was passed at the extraordinary session of the parliament held today.

It was approved with a 'yes' vote from 35 MPs present at today's session while 14 others voted against the report.

The report put to vote restructures the composition of 16 standing committees of the parliamentary as well as the Security services committee based on the MPs from Political parties and independent MPs.

The MPs submitted 10 amendments to the report with the MP for Maduvaree Constituency Adam Shareef Umar submitting 5 on his own. MP for Medhu Henveriu Constituency Ali Azim submitted 4 amendments while MP for Nolhivaram Constituency Mohamed Nasheed Abdullah submitted one.

But none of these amendments were approved.

MP for Villufushi Constituency Hassan Afeef who chaired the session today asked the political parties to send the names of the MPs they wanted to appoint to the different committees by 9 pm tonight.
