The Government of India releases MVR 3.5 million as mobilization advance for eight community development projects.
India and Maldives earlier signed an agreement for a grant of MVR 100 million on January 18, 2023, to execute community-oriented projects primarily aimed at infrastructure development in different islands of Maldives.
These projects will directly benefit the local communities. The projects include;
- Arts Centre in Male’Construction of Lh. Hinnavaru New Council OfficeSchool
- Digitalization Programme in L. Atoll Education Centre
- Development of Outdoor Gym, in Hithadhoo Beyrumathi Dhaaira, Addu city
- Development of Outdoor Gym, Hithadhoo Rasgedhara Dhaaira, Addu city
- Development of Outdoor Gym, Gdh. Vaadhoo
- Development of Outdoor Gym, HA.Dhidhdhoo
- Development of Sh. Milandhoo Running Track
India has extended a total grant of MVR 361 million for executing community development projects in the Maldives.
At present, India has partnered with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, relevant Ministries, and local governments to undertake 56 projects in Maldives across 20 atolls.
These 56 projects relate to fields of sports, education, health, civic amenities, fisheries, tourism, and culture - areas close to the Maldivian hearts. Of these, 26 projects have already been completed and 6 are nearing completion.
