MDP's Presidential Candidate President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih says he began his re-election campaign from Shaviyani Komandoo because he has never faced defeat with a campaign that began from the island.
He made the remarks while speaking at the political rally in Komandoo as he kicked off his re-election bid.
President Solih said that the fact that his campaign began in Komandoo was with reason and that the island is familiar with campaigning and that many from the island were seasoned campaigners.
The President noted that he had not lost any election in which the campaign began in Komandoo and that the beginning of his campaign was already on the right path.
He further said that every citizen wished for a country that is peaceful and happy and for that to happen a harmonious society must be formed.
President Solih noted that in the last 5 years, the hardest task achieved by his administration was to make the Maldives a safe and secure place and that people across the country are reaping the rewards of the work.
Shedding light on when he came into power back in 2018, President Solih said that people were being murdered on the streets and that businessmen cannot operate their trade in peace.
He added that everyone can feel the change brought on and that every individual deserve the right to live their lives in peace.
