President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih travels to Shaviyani Atoll as he kicks off his re-election campaign ahead of the September elections.
Several cabinet Ministers accompanied the President on his trip to Shaviyani Atoll.
This includes Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid, Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer, Defense Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi, Youth Minister Ahmed Mahloof, Education Minister Dr. Aishath Ali, Environment Minister Aminath Shauna, Higher Education Minister Ibrahim Hassan, Home Minister and President of Adhalath Party Imran Abdullah as well as Parliamentarians Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, Mohamed Aslam, and Abdullah Jabir.
The President began his Presidential Campaign from Komandhoo of Shaviyani Atoll and is expected to meet with the MDP Supporters in the country.
On this leg of the trip, the President would visit Maaroshi, Noomaraa, and Fokaidhoo and hold his campaign launching rally in Fokaidhoo.
While MDP is just starting its campaigning, other Presidential candidates have been busy wooing the public with campaign rallies and meetings. This includes MNP candidate Nazim Mohamed and JP Candidate Gasim Ibrahim. While leaders of the opposition PPM/PNC coalition are campaigning on behalf of their candidate former President Abdullah Yameen who remains in jail.
