Maldives and Azerbaijan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on increasing cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both countries.

The MoU was signed on Friday at a ceremony held on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) that is presently ongoing in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The Foreign Ministry said that the MoU aims to enhance and expand bilateral relations and cooperation between the Maldives and Azerbaijan, and also facilitate the holding of regular consultations between the two countries at all levels on issues of mutual interest.

The Ministry added that the MoU also aims to strengthen cooperation between the two sides on the training of diplomats.

Foreign Ministry stated that State Minister Ahmed Khaleel signed the MoU on behalf of the Government of Maldives, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov signed on behalf of his country.
