A man is being treated in the intensive care unit ICU after he fell while taking down the national flag hoisted at the grounds of the National Museum.

The incident occurred around 6 pm last evening when the individual was trying to take down the flag after climbing on a chair. The man fell when he slipped off the chair.

The Director of Communication at the Heritage Ministry Ismail Nail Nasheed said that the man was one of the security guards employed to monitor the Museum building and that the man was a foreigner.

While Police also maintain security at the National Museum, it was the police officers present at the scene that rushed the fall victim to the hospital.

Police said that the individual is currently undergoing treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital and is being treated at the ICU.

They added that the Police would be further investigating the incident.
