Police say they are currently searching for a woman missing from Villimale'.
They said that they received the missing person's report for 53-year-old Athifa Abdullah today around 10:25 am.
Police quoted her family to say that she was last seen at her home around 22:45 pm.
Athifa's family informed the police that she was last seen wearing a green dress with a pink headscarf.
Police urged the public to share any information they might have of Athifa via Police Hotline 3322111 or through Villimale Police Station number 9790083.
Missing persons' cases have grown in recent months with both adults as well as children being reported missing frequently. While most cases have been resolved successfully, some result in tragedy as in the case of Mohamed Azhan who was reported missing in September of 2022.
His remains were found the following month in a land plot yet to be developed in Phase 1 of Hulhumale'. He was reported missing from Phase II of Hulhumale. His case remains unsolved.
