Islamic Ministry has confirmed the death of an additional Maldivian who traveled to Saudi Arabia for the annual Hajj Pilgrimage this year.

The Ministry said that a man named Ali Hassan,72, from Dhaalu Atoll Maaenbudhoo died yesterday around 18:17 pm Male' time while under treatment at the Jaman Hospital in Mecca.

Earlier, the Ministry reported that two Maldivian Pilgrims were being treated in the ICU but it is unclear whether the deceased is one of them.

This is the second Maldivian to die in two days while away on the Hajj Pilgrimage this year.

The Ministry confirmed on Friday that 72-year-old Mohamed Naseem was found dead after he went missing on the 26th of June while in the tent city of Mena.

Naseem went on the Pilgrimage with Al Haramain Hajj and Umrah group and was later found dead days after he went missing.

The Hajj group identified the body of the deceased after the hospital to which he was taken called them to come and identify the body.
