MP for Kaashidhoo Constituency Abdullah Jabir rejoins Maldives Democratic Party MDP four years after he left the party.
In a small ceremony held at Salt Cafe', President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih accepted MP Jabir's membership application form to join MDP.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Solih said that MP Jabir rejoining MDP is a huge support to the party as well as to him personally.
The President further said that he had no doubt that MP Jabir will give his expertise to help MDP win the Presidential Election in September.
President Solih noted that he and MP Jabir worked together in the Parliament before and that the youth of the country sees the MP as a leader.
When asked why he decided to rejoin the party, MP Jabir gave a curt answer. He said that the people who wanted to oust him from the party have now left the party and that he wanted President Solih to retain his presidency.
MP Jabir said that he was confident that the President would be re-elected and that he would give it his all to make it happen.
MP Jabir left MDP back in 2019 after losing the MDP primary to compete for the Kaashidhoo Constituency. He then decided to compete for the seat as an independent candidate and subsequently won the seat in the elections that year.
