The government of Maldives strongly condemns the violent attacks carried out today in the West Bank City of Jenin by Israeli forces, resulting in the deaths of five people, including a minor, and injuries to several other innocent civilians.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said that the government and people of Maldives express heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of the Israeli aggression and wish a swift recovery for the injured.
It said that the Maldives remains deeply concerned by the disproportionate and excessive use of force by Israel on unarmed civilians, including women and children in the occupied Palestinian territories.
It further said that the Maldives reiterates its firm position that finding long-lasting peace in the Middle East, rests with reaching a two-State solution, with the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.
Foreign Ministry said that the Government and people of Maldives stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people, in their legitimate struggle for self-determination.
