President of Seychelles Wavel Ramkalawan and First Lady Linda Ramkalawan arrive on a state visit to the Maldives earlier today at the invitation of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
The President's Office said that Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid received the President and First Lady of Seychelles, along with their delegation, at Velana International Airport (VIA).
It said that the government will hold a ceremony on Monday to officially welcome the Seychellois First Couple.
During his visit, President Ramkalawan would meet with President Solih to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation. The two leaders would also exchange several agreements and issue a joint statement on the outcomes of their discussions.
The visit of President Ramkalawan to the Maldives demonstrates the close relationship between the two countries. The visit is expected to lead to further collaboration between the Maldives and the Seychelles. The two countries established diplomatic relations on July 1, 1980.
