China and the Maldives hold discussions on further enhancing the existing ties between the two countries, focusing on areas such as tourism, education, sports, and agriculture.

The discussions were held when visiting the Governor of Yunnan Province of the People's Republic of China Wang Yubo paid a courtesy call on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih earlier this morning at his office.

President Solih welcomed Governor Wang and his delegation to the Maldives at a meeting. He emphasized the strong bilateral relations between the Maldives and China.

President Solih expressed sincere appreciation for the Chinese government's support in advancing the Maldives' socioeconomic development.

Speaking with the President, Governor Wang expressed interest in collaborating with the Maldives on mutually beneficial initiatives, particularly in the fields of trade and commerce.

Both the President and the Governor expressed confidence in the continuous collaboration between the Maldives and China, both bilaterally and on the international stage, to address shared concerns and fortify the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
