The government has dismissed the State Minister of Environment Minister Hassan Mughnee over comments he made about President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih via his Twitter account.
Presidential Spokesperson Miuvaan Mohamed has confirmed this for the Press.
Mughnee, who held the post of Managing Director of Stelco, made the defamatory comments last Thursday when he called the President a 'thief' who has employed a band of thieves to lead the State Owned Enterprises.
He called out the top officials of Fenaka, Stelco, RDC, STO, Wamco, and MACL as thieves.
Mughnee further said that there were only 4 months before this corrupt administration comes to an end.
He promptly deleted this Tweet that collectively insulted the President along with top officials of several SOEs.
The President's Office said that it would investigate the comments and questioned Mughnee over the defamatory comments.
Mughnee who is from the Jumhooree Party and was posted as the MD of Stelco under the Party's slot on the coalition government. But Mughnee was replaced last year and given the post of State Minister at the Environment Ministry.
