Health Protection Agency HPA says 84 new cases of COVID-19 were reported across the country between 2nd April and 08th April.
HPA said that this was 45 more cases than what was reported last week.
The Agency reported that 73 out of the 84 new cases were reported from the Greater Male' Area while the remaining 11 cases were reported from industrial islands, resorts, and vessels.
HPA added that no cases were reported from the inhabited islands.
It said that 17 new hospital admissions were also reported this week. This is only one more admission from last week as 16 were admitted to the hospital with COVID-19.
The Agency further said that a total of 185,894 cases of the pandemic have been reported in the Maldives since March 2020.
A total of 311 people have died from COVID-19 in the Maldives since April 2020.
