Pakistan and the Maldives hold discussions on resuming direct flights between the two countries.
The discussions were held in the meeting between the Pakistani High Commissioner to the Maldives Vice Admiral (Retd.) Muhammad Fayyaz Gilani and Vice President Faisal Naseem.
The meeting was held at the President’s Office.
The President's Office said that at the meeting, the Vice President and the High Commissioner discussed issues of mutual interest, including ways to strengthen further the cordial relations between the two countries, which have spanned several decades based on mutual values and interests.
They also spoke about strengthening air connectivity, enhancing ties in tourism, culture, sports, training, and education, and continuing stalled discussions on Memoranda of Understanding in various sectors.
Speaking with the High Commissioner, the Vice President also inquired about the situation in Pakistan following the devastating floods in 2022. In conclusion, the Vice President and the High Commissioner expressed their eagerness for continued relations and cooperation in the years to come.
The Maldives established diplomatic relations with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on July 26, 1966.
