Addu Equatorial Hospital AEH has landed a very rare case after a team from the hospital removed a loa loa or more commonly known as an African Eye worm from a patient.

AEH said that the patient, a foreign woman, presented with mild redness and foreign body sensation in the eye.

It said that the African eye worm was removed from the patient's conjunctiva under topical anesthesia.

AEH further said that the procedure was followed by a brain MRI to rule out Neurocysticercosis. It confirmed that the patient was doing fine after the procedure.
