The man who was stabbed in a store in Male' last Friday has passed away due to his injuries.

The man was stabbed in a store in the Maafannu ward of Male' and was rushed to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital where he was treated on the ventilator.

The Hospital confirmed today that the 30-year-old victim passed away around 6:45 am today.

It had not revealed the extent of his injuries.

Social media video of the incident showed that the victim has suffered a heavy gash on his neck and that he had blood all over his body.

The video showed individuals trying to control the wound on his neck while it also showed a knife on the victim's belt.

Sources have said that the man was attacked by two assailants traveling on a motorbike and that they had entered the store to stab the victim.

Yesterday, Police Commissioner Mohamed Hameed revealed via Twitter that an individual with direct involvemen with the stabbing has been arrested after a police investigation.

He said that the suspect was arrested under a court order on Saturday night.
