Road Development Corporation RDC has assigned the paving work of Ameenu Magu to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company MTCC.
RDC was contracted to reconstruct one of the most used roads in Male' last year and it started work last September. But the work has been delayed with part of the road closed down due to the construction.
State Minister at the Planning Ministry Akram Kamaaludeen confirmed that the paving work of the road has now been contracted to MTCC.
He said that this work was given to MTCC because RDC did not have land to keep the paving machine and once the land has been arranged RDC would take over the paving work.
The reconstruction of Ameenee magu was awarded to RDC for MVR 84 million while the Male' City Council has said that it would finish the project for MVR 39 million.
The construction was first projected to be completed in February of this year but has now been delayed to September of this year.
Planning Minister Ahmed Aslam has said that the work was being delayed due to utility company MWSC not providing the required materials like pipes. But MWSC said that it has been giving its full cooperation to the project.
