Vice President Faisal Naseem says ferry fare for the newly developed Kudagiri Picni Island is set at MVR 25, each way.
Speaking after overseeing the latest work at the island, the Vice President said that those who wish to visit the picnic island must pay an entrance fee of MVR 50 and MVR 25 for the ferry each way.
He also said that only half the amount would be charged for children below 12 years of age.
The Vice President further said that on weekends and public holidays, there would be no charges for those visiting the island.
He also said that only locals would be allowed on the island on these days.
The island has been developed with many resources for picnic goers including 12 day-use rooms and 16 picnic benches.
The island also has a mini football court, volley, basket court as well as a play area for children and a dive center, and a water sports center.
Kudagiri is set to be opened on the 11th of this month and Housing Development Corporation has launched a special App for booking.
