MP for Maduvaree Constituency Adam Shareef says no matter who wins MDP's primary today, opposition leader and former President Abdullah Yameen will win the Presidential elections later this year.

This comes as the ruling MDP is voting today to elect its own Presidential candidate for the upcoming elections scheduled for September this year.

MP Shareef said no matter who wins the MDP candidacy today, Yameen and PPM will easily win the election in this current political situation.

He further said that today's result would change the opposition's election strategy and rhetoric.

Though the opposition has handed over its candidacy to Yameen, he is currently serving an 11-year jail sentence after he was convicted of money laundering and accepting a bribe late last year.

Meanwhile, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is competing against the President of MDP and Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed in today's primary.

President Solih said today that he is hoping to secure a victory with a margin in the double-digit figures and assured that there would be no voter fraud at the polls today.
