Maldives National Defence Force MNDF has caught a crocodile near Hoarafushi island of Haa Alifu Atoll.
MNDF said that the wild animal was sighted in the lagoon of the island between the uninhabited islands of Ungufinolhaa and Huvandhoo.
They said via Twitter that the animal was 6 ft in length and that the First Coastguard Squadron of the Northern Area Command was the first on the scene.
Photos shared on Twitter by MNDF showed soldiers picking the animal from the sea on a launch. Another picture also showed the animal bound and taped with its mouth covered and limbs tied.
Earlier this month, this month MNDF caught a croc that was more than twice as big as the one caught today.
That croc was 14ft long and was caught near Bolidhifaru island in Kaafu Atoll.
MNDF later said that the animal was released 24 miles off the island.
