A foreigner who was arrested while carrying alcohol on a van belonging to Rasheed Carpentry and Construction Ltd Pvt has been deported from the Maldives.

RCC is a family business of the President of Maldives National Party Mohamed Nazim.

Social media posts showed Police confiscating a large number of alcohol bottles from a van with the RCC logo. Police arrested a foreigner in relation to the case and the man was driving the van when it was stopped for the inspection.

In a tweet on the day of the arrest, Nazim said that it was unacceptable that such a crime has been committed and that RCC was deeply concerned about the incident.

Nazim, who is also the MP for Dhagethi Constituency, said that RCC would never encourage any activity that went against the laws of the country.

In a tweet today, RCC said that the foreigner involved in the incident has been deported without the possibility of return and that he was deported after the police investigation.

RCC assured that it would never do anything that is prohibted under the laws of the Maldives and that it would not encourage such activities too.
