Indian media have reported that Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is set to visit the Maldives today.

Media reports cited the External Affairs Ministry to say that Jaishankar's trip to the Maldives is part of his three-day visit to the Maldives and Sri Lanka to further expand bilateral engagement with the two key maritime neighbors of India.

During Jaishankar's visit to the Maldives, he is expected to meet with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and holds talks with Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid.

Reports also suggested that the External Affairs Minister will sign several agreements to bolster bilateral cooperation.

The Statement from India said that the Minister's visit to Male will see the signing of agreements related to the bilateral development cooperation, ground-breaking/inauguration/handing-over, and launch of a number of key India-supported projects that will contribute to the socio-economic development of the Maldives
