President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih says his administration has done more across the country in the past 2 years compared to what other governments have achieved in 5 years.

He made the comments while in Haa Alifu Ihavandhoo during his campaign trip to the Northern Atoll.

President Solih said that MDP came into power to fulfill many pledges and including those made to Ihavndhoo, Marandhoo, and both the Northern Atolls.

He said that most of these projects have already been completed or are on the verge of being completed with work on most now started. He noted that his administration had the thinking not to leave any project unstarted when it entered its last year of the Presidency.

But he said some projects had to be stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic and that once the Pandemic hit, the government prioritized the well-being of the people and safety when considering budget allocations.

The President said that the whole world appreciated the work done by the Government amid the COVID pandemic that saved the Maldives from severer economic downfall as other countries and the World health body WHO has shared the Maldivian experience with other nations.

President Solih noted that many have now forgotten these difficult days and that they think there was a normal situation for the last 4 years.

His trip to the north came after his trip to the Southern City of Addu earlier this month. President Solih has also visited central Atolls in the last few weeks.

His opponent Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed meanwhile is today traveling to Kaafu and Lhaviyani Atoll today after a brief stop in Male' yesterday.
