MP for Ungoofaaru Constituency Mohamed Waheed has aimed harsh criticism at President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih for failing to fully investigate murders that were committed years back let alone the recent ones.

MP Waheed, who is from the MDP faction supporting Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed, said this in response to the speech the President gave at the rally at Raa Atoll Meedhoo last night.

President Solih said that the trial for the murder of Mohamed Anas who was from Meedhoo is going forward and that he does not wish such a fate on any Maldivian ever again. Anas was stabbed to death inside the Litus Service Center in July 2018.

President vowed to find justice for Anas back in 2018 during his Presidential Campaign.

In response to the President's comments, MP Waheed said that the administration may have 'bribed' media outlets to stop publishing certain articles but it cannot stop heinous murders and frightening disasters.

MP Waheed reminded that a 13-year-old boy was found stuffed in a suitcase under this administration and that a local businessman was found in a sack also during the President's tenure.

He added that a young woman was also found dismembered during this administration.

The MP also noted that the assassination attempt against the Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed also unfolded under this administration and that the concerning matter was authorities have not been able to get to the bottom of these crimes and have been negligent in establishing justice.

MP Waheed said that these matters must be spoken about as President Solih and his administration have been unable to fully investigate murders of years back and recent ones as well and have been slow to react to the crimes.
