Police have arrested 17 individuals in a major anti-narcotics operation carried out in the capital on Thursday.
The Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed said that during the operation conducted last Thursday, 10 locations in Male’ & HulhuMale’ were searched. He further said via Twitter that during the raids 17 individuals were arrested and that 6.8 kgs of narcotics were seized.
Hameed added that MVR 933,430 was also seized during the operation.
The Commission noted that this operation was conducted to disrupt drug trafficking and peddling by a well-known crime group. But he stopped short of identifying the group or giving details about the 17 individuals arrested during the operation.
