Vice President Faisal Naseem says the administration's plans to introduce holistic education at the Gn. Atoll Education Centre before it embarks on its golden jubilee anniversary.
The Vice President made these remarks while speaking at the function held to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Gn. Atoll Education Center.
Addressing the function, the Vice President noted that Gn. Atoll Education Center was one of the schools where the administration plans to introduce holistic education, focusing on student's academic and social needs.
Highlighting that the school had made significant achievements over the past 40 years, he extended his appreciation to the management and teachers who had served the institution since its inception.
Questioning the role of schools and the education sector in general, the Vice President noted that neither infrastructure and resources nor teachers alone could build generations of productive citizens. He stressed that the task requires a whole-of-society approach and called on the nation to bear on their shoulders the responsibility to help and support building the country's future generations.
The Vice President also addressed the students on the need to learn new skills throughout their time in school. Noting that there are many job opportunities in many different fields, the Vice President urged students to make the most of their time in school to learn technical and vocational skills.
