Many have been given psychological treatment after the violence that ensued following the final match of the Raa Atoll Futsal tournament at Ungoofaaru yesterday.
Teams from Inguraidhoo and Dhuvaafaru competed in the final. Social media videos show supporters of both teams engaging and attacking each other in a heated exchange.
Police were also deployed to the scene but video showed supporters dismantling police lines separating them and continuing their attack.
Initial reports said that many sustained facial injuries as well as injuries to their heads.
Citing Ungoofaaru regional hospital, Police said that two individuals sought treatment from the hospital after sustaining physical injuries and they include a 14-year-old boy and a 39-year-old woman.
Police also said that 18 others were given psychological support following the violence and that these include children as well as those above 18 years of age.
They said that although no one has been arrested in relation to the incident, Police were investigating the matter.
Ten teams from Raa Atoll took part in the Futsal tournament which was won by Dhuvaafaru after they came from behind to beat Inguraidhoo 4-3.
