Three individuals from two islands have been arrested for the possession of narcotics.
Police said that the three were apprehended in an operation carried out over the weekend.
They said that Police carried out an operation in Dhaalu Atoll Meedhoo after they received a tip-off that individuals were using narcotics on the island. Police said that they arrested a 26-year-old man during the operation and found a substance believed to be narcotics on his person. The narcotics were sealed in a small rubber packet.
The man was taken under custody for three days.
Police mentioned that a similar operation was carried out in Noonu Velidhoo in which they arrested a 36-year-old man and a 40-year-old man. During the operation carried in by both the island's police and Police Intelligence Unit, they searched the suspects and found 23 rubber packets containing what they believed to be narcotics.
Both suspects were arrested for 10 days.
Police confirmed that they were investigating the two incidents.
