The government is set to submit the proposed State Budget for next year to the Parliament tomorrow.

The government has proposed a State Budget of MVR 41.5 billion for 2023.

Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer would be presenting the State Budget to the Parliament at tomorrow's legislative session. The Minister would be detailing state revenues as well as expenditures and costs of the projects the government is carrying out right now.

Once the budget is submitted to the parliament, the House would decide on a date to debate the proposed budget.

While the Government is readying to submit the State Budget, the Bill on amending the Goods and Services Tax is currently on the Whole House Committee.

Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has said that the Parliament would complete the work on the Bill by next Tuesday. But this comes amid a difference of opinion between MPs representing the government majority party MDP about the potential hike to taxes.
