Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid departs for the UK on an official visit from 29 October to 4 November 2022.

The Ministry said that during the visit, Minister Shahid is scheduled to meet with the new leadership of the UK including the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development The Rt Hon James Cleverly, and continue discussions on enhancing the longstanding relations between the two countries.

It further said that the Minister is also scheduled to meet with the Prime Minister’s Special Representative for Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict and the Minister of State for the Middle East, South Asia, and the United Nations Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, Minister for Asia, Energy, Climate and Environment The Rt Hon Lord Goldsmith and members of the House of Commons and the House of Lords of the UK.

The Foreign Ministry noted that Minister Shahid will also be delivering a speech at the Oxford Union Society on the topic “The future of multilateralism”.

Minister Shahid is accompanied by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel and Joint Secretary Shiuneen Rasheed.
