A youth who has been lost while diving for fish near Addu has succumbed to his injuries after he was found by rescuers earlier today.
Maldives National Defence Force MNDF said that it had received a report that a youth who went diving from a dinghy near Addu was lost. MNDF confirmed that two others were on the launch and that the report came in around 11:32.
It later said that the 24-year-old local man was found and that was taken to Addu Equatorial hospital.
The hospital confirmed that the victim arrived at the hospital around 12:34 and that he died while being treated in the Emergency room around 1:05 in the afternoon.
The victim has been identified as Tholaal Ahmed of Seenu Hithadhoo Fehi Vina.
Sources have said that Tholal was found 19 meters deep from the area in which he had gone to dive and that he was found 45 minutes after he was known to have been lost.
